What is a Remote Psychologist?
Working remotely as a psychologist, you will be providing therapy and treatment for clients, monitoring their behavior, and identifying their conditions by use of clinical techniques. Proceeding these steps, you will be able to determine how to treat their particular needs in the most appropriate way for your clients. You will be working with clients on an individual, case-by-case basis.
McKinsey analysis suggests that telehealth use post-COVID has increased 38x from a pre-COVID baseline. Telehealth necessity in the pandemic it seems led to consumer comfort post-pandemic which has resulted in a wealth of remote psychology job opportunities and it seems that remote working and the quality of life improvements associated with it are top of mind for mental health professionals. When working as a psychologist remotely, you will mainly be liaising with clients by way of a webcam over the internet. Using a webcam, you can create a virtual office setting where you will be able to talk with your clients. Usually, you will meet with your clients in pre-booked appointments, but you may be called to speak to a client outside of your normal hours in the case of an emergency such as a mental breakdown or some kind of crisis and they require support from you.
What is the expected salary of a Remote Psychologist?
The salary of a remote psychologist is dependent on a variety of factors. Some psychologists work for large companies that provide online therapy such as Better Help. Other psychologists have run their own private practice and therefore set their own fees. Salaries are also dependant on your location, as this can vary substantially. Additionally, the salaries of psychologists who have their own private practice can vary depending on the number of clients they have per week, therefore their income can fluctuate throughout the year.
